In November 2018, the Mpuntusem Team was sponsored by the Oxfam Pan Africa Programme to attend and document a High-Level Dialogue (HLD) on Democracy, Human Rights and Governance in Gaborone, the capital town of Botswana.
The 2018 HLD, held from 28th-30th November, under the auspices of the African Governance Architecture (AGA) secretariat of the Africa Union served as a forum for reflection on the 2018 AU theme of the year on “Winning the Fight Against Corruption: A Sustainable Path to Africa’s Transformation”
The main HLD was preceded by a Pre-Gender Conference from 26th to 27th November to deliberate on the gender factor in the fight against corruption on the continent. It was on the theme; Corruption and Women’s Right in Africa: Trends, Challenges and Prospects. Speakers and panalists at this conference included: Madam Dorcas Makgata, Botswana’s Minister of State for Nationality, Immigration and Gender Affairs, Dr. Khabele Matlosa, Directorfor Political Affairs at the Africa Union, HE Amma A. Twum-Amoa, Ghana’s High Commissioner to the Ethiopia and Permanent representative to the Africa Union, Crystal Simeoni , Head of Advocacy at FEMNET, Okeke Anya, President of State of the Union Coalition (SOTU), Kijala Shako of Oxfam Pan Africa office, Aaron Weah Weah III, Director of Programmes at Naymote, Liberia and Enaam Ahmed Ali, EMEA Director at Mark Labs.
